Il seminario si propone di fare il punto sulle principali sfide per mercato dell'energia elettrica nel sud-est Europa e sulle prospettive di armonizzazione delle regole di mercato e di integrazione fisica dei mercati nella Regione, basandosi sulle esperienze di successo sperimentate nell'UE. Tutto ciò a fronte degli obblighi che il Terzo Pacchetto Ue ha esteso anche ai Paesi non UE, firmatari del Trattato della Comunità Energetica del sud-est Europa (Energy Community), con l'obiettivo di creare nella Regione (la cosiddetta Ottava Regione elettrica) un mercato competitivo e integrato, in grado di attrarre investimenti in infrastrutture di rete e in generazione.

A possible way forward to a well-integrated and competitive electricity market in South-East Europe

The electricity market in South East Europe is facing important challenges to meet the objectives
set by the 3rd EU Energy Package, that have been extended to the Energy Community Treaty.
According to the Treaty, a competitive and integrated electricity market in the 8 th Region is needed in order to attract investment in network infrastructures and power generation. On the other side
market integration in Europe is following the roadmaps established by the Regional Initiatives, that aim among other things at coupling the wholesale electricity markets of South - East Europe by 2015.
The Italian Regulatory Authority, as a EU member of the ECRB (Energy Community Regulatory Board) and the leader of the Central - South Europe Electricity Regional Initiative, is rapidly driving the  process in the direction of a unique and well harmonized electricity market.
The workshop has the objective to enhance the debate around the promotion of new infrastructures
investments (transmission and generation) and of a well - functioning wholesale electricity market, taking the opportunity of successful experiences, benchmarking exercises and possible proposals.
The Workshop will be open to national and international press.
